MATT Wins ENR’s Best Project of the Year

ENR California Magazine (Engineering News Record), the nation’s largest publication covering construction and engineering management, awarded MATT Construction the Best Overall Project of the Year Award for the Wilshire Boulevard Temple Restoration, with Levin & Associates Architects. The announcement was made at the ENR Awards Breakfast in Long Beach, December 4th, 2014, and all project team members were recognized.

“The project was both beautiful and substantive,” said one of the competition judges. “They went the extra mile to restore it, rather than just making cosmetic changes,” said another.  The jury was particularly impressed with the work done to remove and restore the 100-ton Rose Window, the first such restoration ever achieved in North America. The project was selected as the stand-out winner among 140 other entries from the region.

The Temple project represents one of several important Jewish projects that MATT Construction has built in Southern California.  MATT’s contributions to the local Jewish community include construction of the Skirball Cultural Center (all phases), over a decade of projects at the Museum of Tolerance (including the recent Anne Frank exhibit), the Jewish Federation Headquarters, the Malibu Jewish Community Center/Synagogue, and the Yeshiva School.  The company deeply values these long-standing relationships, and attributes much of their success to the high quality of the clients it has been privileged to serve.

In addition to the Overall Winner project, MATT is winning a Best Cultural Project of the Year award for The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills, an adaptive reuse project designed by SPF:architects.
