MATT Construction is seeking an experienced Project Accountant to join our team! This is a Full Time, hourly/non-exempt position based in our Santa Fe Springs office. This position is temporarily home-office based with 1x weekly rotation into the office.

Do you have

  • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or accounting-related field
  • A minimum of 2 years of accounting experience in the construction industry
  • Proficient communication, interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, CMiC, Textura 
  • Self-management skills and the ability to work with limited supervision
  • A positive and professional attitude and strong customer service skills

The Role

The Project Accountant is responsible for establishing solid communication with their assigned project team. Duties include analyzing owner contract and subcontractor agreements to extract pertinent accounting information, maintaining project-related records including contracts and change orders, generating project-related billings to customers, and resolving any issues in a timely manner.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Attending pencil meetings with owners and/or architects to ensure proper and accurate pay applications to the owner per contract terms
  • Responding to owner requests regarding any accounting related item on assigned projects
  • Monitoring project performance: contract value, total billed-to-date, total remaining
  • Creating, analyzing and/or processing the following construction documents:
    • Owner and subcontractor change orders
    • California Preliminary Notices
    • Subcontractor and supplier releases
    • Mechanic liens or bonds
    • Purchase orders
    • Subcontractor compliances and payments
    • Cost reports
    • Reconciliation reports
    • OCIP/CCIP, CRA/PLA compliance requirements
    • Customer invoices
    • Project variance reports
    • Certified payroll reports
    • Accounts payable and reimbursement expenses
