The Four Seasons ‘Stir’ cafe incorporates into the existing Four Seasons Hotel lobby a new luxurious coffee shop to serve the local community. The project entailed surgically demolishing the existing palatial hotel finishes while the hotel was in service, while minimizing sound and other impacts to its high end clientele. The new design replaced floor to ceiling wood paneling and decorative moldings with modern architectural details and a fresh color palette, romanticizing geometric enthusiasm. Sleek, five-star finishes included metal portals in walls, floor and ceiling, metal cubed shelving overlaying interior stone columns, a new storefront glazing system, blush antique mirrors and an array of elegant granite slabs. The flooring is composed of concrete tiles laid in the hotel’s trademark geometric pattern, bordered by a black and white hexagon mosaic. The renovated exterior façade transcends from traditional brick to Nordic Black stone.
