The CoreSite SV4 Data Center project continued the development of an 11.6-acre, three parcel industrial block. It involved construction of a new two-story, Tier III data center, with infrastructure including below-grade electrical, communications and water lines, a 25,000-gallon diesel fuel tank serving eight primary generators providing up to 16 MW of electric power, and two secondary generators. Construction employed a novel design approach utilizing Conxtech structural steel design HSS columns, wide flange beams and bolted moment collars to provide a faster, better, safer and more systematized approach to the long-span building. With bay spacings ranging from 18-65 feet, this system yielded a lighter overall load, and was easier and much faster to erect than a traditional structure.
