To protect the California African American Museum (CAAM) against future storm events, MATT performed a comprehensive building envelope restoration, addressing existing water damage while upgrading the structure’s ability to divert and repel water for the long term.
Exterior improvements included a full roof replacement, application of a water-repellent coating, installation of new doors and weatherstripping, and re-caulking of all exterior glazing to strengthen the building’s defense against moisture intrusion.
Sitework complemented these upgrades with regrading, a new drainage system, and targeted landscaping designed to direct water away from the structure.
Inside, the scope extended to AC unit commissioning, testing and balancing, along with repair and cleanup of MEPF systems — restoring full building performance from the inside out.
