The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County Commons Project will replace the museum’s existing Jean Delacour Auditorium wing with a new 2-story addition plus a basement on the west side of the existing building. The project also entails limited renovation and alteration of office spaces along with landscaping and site work on the south side of the existing building and site. The new 27,500 SF, Type II-B building, will house a flexible theater space, theater gallery, café, catering kitchen and restrooms at a new building height of 48’-6”. The sustainability target for the new building is LEED Gold.
