West Los Angeles, CA
Set to be the tallest building in West LA, The Landmark II is being built through an existing occupied parking structure that currently serves an 18-story office building and parks 1,000+ cars per day. Seismic and structural strengthening of the existing parking structure and underpinning of its foundation will necessitate new temporary entrances and re-routing. Other construction elements include de-tensioning of PT beams for demolition, the installation of a hybrid, internally braced raker system, micropiles and localized dewatering. A tower crane will crane the caissons rig into place to install the caissons below the mat foundation. The tower crane will also haul spoils, in lieu of traditional truck hauling in the excavation zone. The Landmark II is 34 stories and will include 376 new apartments. Features include a park, a fitness center, a recreation area, a swimming pool, a pool deck and a four-level underground parking garage.
